More than 40 marine law enforcement agencies across California will increase patrols June 29 – July 1, to educate boaters specifically about drunken/impaired water recreation. This three-day enhanced enforcement period, known as Operation Dry Water (ODW), is a national boating under the influence awareness and enforcement campaign just before the Fourth of July holiday. This week is unfortunately known for deadly accidents due to boating under the influence (BUI).
Between June 25 and July 8, California residents will see the following outdoor “Buzz Free” messages and law enforcement will distribute bumper stickers emphasizing the message. Click on the radio spots below and share them to support the outdoor and print campaign.
Everyone is encouraged to use the Facebook overlays to show support for buzz free boating.
“Operation Dry Water is a nationwide effort by (insert local marine patrol name here) to reduce alcohol-related boating accidents and fatalities. Throughout the summer, marine safety patrols will be on the lookout for anyone operating a boat under the influence. Leave the alcohol on shore and save the ones you love.”
